Week 9 of the Young3 took place in Dallas, Texas at Cedar Springs Boys and Girls Club. It was our second week in the Lone Star State, as we began the season in Houston back in week one. This camp was full of excitement from all of the 80 young participants. It is always wonderful to see the parents/family in the stands cheering on all the kids.

At this particular Young3 camp, we had our camp drills, tournament games, knockout, 4-point shootout, and a dance contest. The winner of both the 4-point shootout and dance contest received a $20 prize straight from Young3 President, Jerome Williams.

In addition to Williams, joining the camp from the Big3 today were: Ivan Johnson of Ghost Ballers as well as Tri-State’s very own David Hawkins and Robert Hite. We had impressive Shooting For Peace legends in the building: Willie Davis, Paul Pressey, and Morlon Wiley.

As always, our Young3 staff made sure the kids had an amazing day and succeeded in the drills and games. Joining the regular crew of Jerome Williams, Erin Thorn, Desmon Farmer, and James “Hollywood” Robinson was Charles “Choo” Smith. Choo, a former Globetrotter, had joined us back in Chicago earlier this summer and we were very glad to have him back this week.

Both Clyde Drexler and Ice Cube made the trip to the Young3 camp today to speak to the youth and impact young lives. Ice Cube spoke about the importance of family, school, and choosing the right friends when wanting to succeed in life. Many camp participants took pictures with these icons and got gear signed. It was great to have both the Big3 creator and Big3 commissioner back in attendance today!

As always, this was a fun, memorable Young3 camp! We head to Brooklyn, New York next week for the finale, as the Big3 season comes to an end.
