Week 7 of the Young3 was a successful week in Boston, Massachusetts. It took place at the Charlestown Boys and Girls Club. This is the 2nd oldest Boys and Girls club in the world. In addition to this the oldest basketball tournament in the world is held here, the Nate Hurwitz Basketball Tourney.
Big3 players to show up were... Nate Robinson of Tri-State, Marcus Banks from Ghost Ballers, Robert Hite also of Tri-State, and former Boston Celtic and current member of the Ball Hogs Brian Scalbrine. Of course kids were asking for autographs and taking pictures, the players were kind and enjoyed watching the youth play in the 3 on 3 tournament. Brian helped ref a championship game and was giving pointers to the kids to help them succeed in the final match. Nate, Marcus, and Robert were very energetic and supportive of the Dancing Diamonds, a local girls dance team. The players were taking videos of the dancers and were impressed with their skills.
The whole Young3 cast was back with President, Jerome Williams, Erin Thorn, James “Hollywood” Robinson, and Desmon Farmer. The kids of Boston marveled at the height of all the athletes who attended today’s camp and were very excited to see some dunks put up by Adam Drexler and see 4-Point shots drained by the whole gang. Lucky the Bulldog was dancing with the kids and taking pictures. It was also fitting that the camp ended with a dance contest between camp participants which had every kid screaming and smiling.
This was a fun week in Boston and an excellent camp. Many camp participants will be in attendance at tomorrow’s Big3 games at TD Garden. And that’s a perfect ending to a great Young3 experience for the youth.
