Another former NBA player from the Young3, Desmond Farmer, took some time with the kids of Oakland, CA to share an inspiring message. The story can be best depicted from the article below:

Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Rainbow PUSH Shooting For Peace Program by  partnering with members of BIG 3 BASKETBALL to expose young people to the power of Sports and Technology in a summer SPORTSTEQ Tour, powered by Stubhub.

During the 2018 BIG 3 Season, THE SPORTSTEQ TOUR will connect with youth and community groups in select city where students will be introduced to basic coding and STEM skills, learn about SPORTSTECH career opportunities to build a positive future, and be encouraged by BIG 3 PLAYERS to be WINNERS in the Classroom as well as on the Court.

For the OAKLAND, CA visit on July 5, Rainbow PUSH partnered with Oakland Parks and Recreation, The Vision Academy, Hip Hop TV, Ebay along with Stubhub to provide a memorable afternoon for 50 inner city kids. Upon arrival, they were able to meet and shoot baskets with BIG 3 PLAYER DESMON FARMER of the BALL HOGS, and then Desmon gave them a powerful message about “Working Hard, Listening to Parents, and Taking advantage of their opportunities”. Then the students were given an exciting coding demonstration, followed by a hands on training for each of them to have the interactive gaming and training on their own. The group was PUMPED UP about the whole experience, and ended the day with SWAG giveaways and t-shirts from Ebay, Certificates of Completion signed by Rev. Jesse Jackson and Cupcakes!
